It’s perfectly legal to change your birth certificate in Washington. State, California, Maine and a few more states. This means that lying is also perfectly legal in those states. I don’t know what that does for murder or rape trials, but I can guess. For the trans ideology , truth is no longer appropriate.
10000%!! I've always been upset that this happens, it's so wrong!! If you can't trust a birth certificate, then you can't trust a passport, a driver's licence, any form of ID, and so then, what's the point of ID??
I also hate what this does to official statistics, which get skewed if objective reality is no longer what they are based on. This has so many implications in terms of medical research, allocation of government funding, etc, etc, etc.
All very good points. This definitely needs to be written into law that birth certificates may not be changed except for actual clerical errors and certainly not without all named on the certificate
Both of my children were adopted at birth and their birth certificates were re-issued in my and my husband’s name as the parents. The original with their birth mother’s name was sealed. At that time, overjoyed at becoming a parent, I liked seeing that document showing us as the “real” parents but honestly I don’t think that is appropriate either.
My daughter took her birth certificate with her when she went away to college. I protested. I had no idea why she was taking it. No trans announcements--yet. She said she needed it for ID.
I assume she changed her birth certificate. I haven't seen it. She did this as an adult.
There is the category of amended birth certificates--adoption comes to mind.

I have an executive order drafted. Stay tuned.
Lisa, you are 100% correct on every point!

I try to separate adoption issues from this subject. That being said, perhaps more transparency is needed for both situations.
An important issue and something that can keep society tethered to reality!
In complete agreement, Lisa.

Adoption needs to be separated from this issue in my opinion. I'm sorry you and so many others have been affected by this issue.
Yes, I wasn't aware of the adoption amended certificates until recently.
Adoption must be separate from this issue.
We need to have laws enacted in addition so that an EO cannot be undone easily in the future.
Yes, indeed.
